The cellphone has evolved from a voice apparatus to a multi-functional device that offers increasingly sophisticated applications – from personalised ringtones to games and music downloads. Convergent technologies have now combined the cellphone and the television set to bring Mobile TV via Digital Video Broadcast – Handheld (DVB-H)*.
MultiChoice and M-Net are conducting a DVB-H trial under a test license from the South African communications industry regulator, ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa).
